I would say it has two definitions anymore. A play or show (televised or not) that evokes emotion from the audience, usually sadness or serious situations that leave you pondering your own life. Or Finding or making reasons to have outbursts of emotion that are viewed by most bystanders as outlandish or excessive and often uncalled for. Creating feelings of tension where it otherwise may not be.

It is when you do or say something just to stir up trouble for fun. Or overreacting to something minor. Either one is just bad form.

My daughter describing her day at school. She starts with the part about how she's (too tired) to get up, then she has (nothing to wear), followed by (hurry we're late!) Then how she has that (darn test today!) Lunch is horrible. The finale is always the same, (she always has to much homework, never time to relax and have fun, and she's under way.... to much stress). Did I mentions she's only 10 years old!
