With so many worse bands/artists and genres out there, why was Nickelback chosen as the object of scorn?

As someone who isn't a Nickleback fan I would have to say its because old Chad is such an easy target. Plus all their songs have a very samey feel to them, I wont go as far as some who suggest they've only actually written 1 song which they keep releasing, but it does feel a little like it at times. I'm not trying to offend but I'm pretty sure that explains the motivation.

I dunno! I also agree there are far worse. I actually like them! I wonder if its a case those "wanna-be-different" kind of people thinking that anything commercial or popular must instantly be criticised?

I don't know. People say they sound the same but omg their are so many artists out there that do the same exact thing. It drives me crazy that they have been targeting Nickelback. THEY AREN'T THE ONLY ONE'S!! lol Don't get me started on Rap these days. Geez. Every song sounds the same. I'm really getting tired of all these Fall Out Boy wanna be's too. Too many!

truly there are worse band out there, but nickle back is nothing special...they dont have an origional sound, they dont have a "style" if they were not celebertys and you herd them in a bar i bet you ten bucks you wouldent by any of there merchendise or there c.d. there only famuse becouse they were signed by a lable and invested in. dont get me wrong i dont hate them...its just i cant stand there music with the exception of that rock star song. and just for you info...they were signed in a bar in my home town of sudbury ontario.

Perhaps it's being in that middle-ground of "not rockin' enough" for some and "too rockin'" for others.
