im just teasing about the ford vs Chevy sounds like you got a good deal the truck might be worth $4000 who knows you should google ford trucks and wikipedia them i myself have a 1980 Chevy 4X4 rotted to hell a good thing about 2wd is they dont rot as much i have dual tanks 8 lug 33/12.5/16.5 rims & tires and part time 4wd which is hard to find good luck to you
they put 390s in until 78 the 77 was the first year for the small cowl insignia near the windshield your vin numbers should read like this f10 for f100 then a h for 390 then a letter that say were it was built then the last 6 are production numbers you should have a low number like 009876 there is no character in the vin to determine the year ford are stupid you should have bought a chevy mYfriend blew his rear and every year it seamed the put a different rear he finally found one but what a pain so tell that kid no HOLESHOTS!!!!
you sons truck is most likely one of the first 1977 trucks built if its built after june of 76 its a 77
