Help answer this question below.

My car was taken by the person I bought the car from and he donated it to charity the next day.We went to court the Judge sited him for violating civil code 2981.Can I file a claim with my ins.company for the loss.If not what do I do I am out 20,000.00

    If he did in fact steal back the car and gave it away to charity, then it is theft. Did you hold title to the car? Do you have a clear bill of sale? If you have that you can go to the charity and make a claim for the wehicle. They won't have title so they can't sell the car. If you retain a lawyer for about 2 hour and about $400 will get your car or money back to you.

    On the surface, it sounds like a theft, and should be covered under the Comprehensive portion of your policy.

    If not, for whatever reason, or if you do not have Comprehensive, you would have to file a civil suit against the seller. Good luck with that...
