They don't ever 'fall' off (that would be fake tips). Acrylic is adhered to your natural nail and either needs to be removed or grown out with your natural nail. To grow them out would take about 6-8 weeks.

Acrylic can chip around the edges, but when properly maintained, the ridge (created as the nail grows out) can be 'filled' about every two weeks to keep them natural looking.

Sometimes they lift or they break off , i.e. slammed nails in drawer. Otherwise , they grow out with your own natural nails. If you wait past ~3 wks, they look awful. That's why no one waits til they "fall off".

Whatever you do, DON'T pull them off. The acrylic adheres to the top layer of your natural nail, and, when it comes off (unless it loosens on it's own), it rips the top layers of your natural nail off, leaving your nails weak.

They do last for a long time. I've had mine on for about 3 weeks, and they are growing out. I buffed the ridges down on mine, because I don't want to get them again. I only got them in the first place because I had a nail split down about half way, and would not grow out, it kept splitting. This protects the nail until the split grows out. (not recommended, as the chemicals hurt like h*ll!)

They really aren't supposed to fall off. They are supposed to be on your nail permanently until you go back to the salon and have them taken off (or you could rip them off yourself at home, but that hurts a lot).
