  • 2 species giant and red i believe +
  • I know of two, the Giant Panda and the Red Panda
  • I believe there are only two species of Panda The Giant and the Red.
  • The Giant Panda is a species of bear. The Red Panda is more closely related to raccoons.
  • There is only one species of giant panda, Ailuropada melanoleuca. It's in the family Ursidea with other bears. Red pandas are in the family Ailuridea, classified Ailurus fulgens, and the only species in their family, I think. Giant and red pandas share an order and suborder, both being caniform carnivores. But basically there's only two species, who aren't in the same genus, that we call pandas, the red and the giant. One's mostly a bear, one's some kind of tree climbing fox thing.
  • Giant and red are the only two I know of. But they aren't related at all. It's just that the word 'panda' means bamboo eater. Strangely the giant panda was thought to be in the raccoon family at one time but it is in the bear family. The red panda isn't a bear or a raccoon and has it's own family.
