I will start the bidding with Dann Howitt, who had a streak of 0-43 in 1992 with Oakland and Seattle. There are probably longer ones though, if I remember I will look into it more tomorrow... I can't find out how long Bill Bergen's longest hitless streak was (he played for the Reds and the Dodgers from 1901-11, baseballlibrary.com calls him "the worst hitter ever to play regularly in MLB") - he had a stretch from June 29th 1909 to July 17th 1909 without a hit, but I don't know how many at bats that included... probably more than 43 I would reckon...

edit - the wikipedia entry for Bill Bergen lists his hitless streak at 46 at bats, which it says is "the longest streak ever by a position player". If you want to include pitchers in this question, then the same entry also lists Bob Buhl as having a hitless streak of 88 at bats with the Braves/Cubs, including an 0-70 record in the entire 1962 season... I'm not sure if the other 18 were at the end of the 1961 season or the start of the 1963 season. Sure lucky for him he could pitch!
