I've been tough on the Roman Catholics today because of what that English Cardinal had to say about atheists not being fully human: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1459447 I got to know a few nuns who were administrators and teachers in inner city junior and high schools when two of my children volunteered to teach through Americorps (yes atheist children do that too) and I still have the greatest respect for those sisters. Of all the people of faith that are well known, I guess I'd have to choose Dr. Martin Luther King. He did the right thing even when it wasn't the popular thing. I don't agree with his religion, but I get a lump in my throat when I think about him.

I am not a religious person, but I respect anyone whatever their beliefs might be. It's when they try to push their beliefs on me that I get bugged. I respect you, you should respect me. Just because I might not believe what you do, doesn't make me a bad person +3

I respect people of reason: people of faith are all delusional, believing all sorts of illogical things, their beliefs supported by no evidence at all; and many of them are dangerous especially towards those do not share their delusions. There are good people of faith, but they are good through their natural evolved human capacity for goodness, good despite the mental poison of religious belief.

My pastor, who is a great man of faith even though he only pastors a small church. When we broke off from our other church, we called him that same day. We didn't even know how we were going to pay him, let alone get a building or anything else. With a wife and three kids to support, he answered our call with the most enthusiastic yes I've ever heard.
