Staged shots in news broadcasts seem to me a little dishonest and seldom add any information (walking down a hall or sidewalk, staring off into space). What do you think? Why do they do it?

Staged shots are bad enough. File footage can be even worse, suggesting the current story actually looked like some unrelated past event. I'm also sick of talking heads and the ubiquitous "Some say that..." coverage that attempts to give equal time to every idea and avoid the investigative journalism needed to find out which of the "Some" who say are telling the truth. Insipid coverage. Humbug!
