  • Green Shield Stamps over here were similar I think
  • Yes, I did collect these stamps. The yellow ones I collected were called Gold Bond Stamps. I turned them in for: 8mm movie camera (spring wound-1956), fishing pole, ironing board and cover, etc. I think I may still have some of them around somewhere.
  • Yes. No. Yes. I don't recall. We had a Jewel, Eagle and some little shop my mom got milk at. Yes. I don't remember what all we got, but I recall rounding up all the books for the final turn in as they weren't giving away anything any longer. We moved since then, so I doubt any avoided the cleaning.
  • I need to look around to see if I've got any of those books or stamps around. They were GREAT. Just answered another question about the process of filling the books - and quality time in the kitchen while doing that. But your question brings something else to mind. There were many things we got from the Redemption Center that we might not have had otherwise if not for those filled books of stamps!!! Good things too .. like a CARD TABLE and CHAIRS. Don't remember Yellow Stamps. We had S&H Green Stamps, Plaid Stamps & Blue Chip Stamps.
  • Yes, my mother collected them. She got her kitchen timer with them. I think she got her iron and ironing board that way too.
  • Yes I remember S&H Green Stamps. We used to collect them all the time. In fact, the ironing board I still have ... we got from green stamps!
  • Yes, we had both S&H and Yellow Stamps in South Carolina where I grew up. My parents would actually let me trade them in for money before we would go on vacation so I could have a little spending money.
  • My parents collected them. It was kinda fun. They bought a clock and more items that I don't remember. I don't know where any of it is now.
  • My Mom use to save them... I had to lick them (Yuck) Don't remember what she bought.
  • oh yes i remember had a few books when they all quit cashed em in for a portable radio i think. jeez they were everywhere... and then there were none
  • Yes I used to get the yellow ones fr. my Star Markets here in Rochester, NY in the late 60's. Got many nice household items as I was a newlywed. Now after moving 3 times, I know that the brown bag with at least 10 bks is here somewhere. I just ran across the last catalog I had from them year 1981. So one of your posters checked wikipedia and says they went belly-up in 1991. I guess the nostalgia buffs may still WANT the things.. perhaps I'll try ebay. The nearly 30 yr. old catalog is even a possibility. I see on Etsy.com there is someone trying to sell 2 incomplete books, one yellow, one green for $4.00 plus ship. to be used for craft projects.. (like decopage, collage, and scrapbooking.) So they will never Totally Die OUT.
  • I hadn't thought about them in almost 50 years, until they popped into my head this afternoon when I was trying to convey how useless AB points are IRL, saying "not even as valuable as" S&H Green Stamps. Lord, how we saved those stupid books of stupid stamps.
  • I do remember them but I was pretty young. I remember my mom using them. And myself or big bro or big sis would get to lick 'em and stick 'em. I haven't a clue if enough was saved to get something. And I haven't seen them around in many years. +5
