  • Your local Humane Society and, of course, an "aviary" vet! The aviary vet could probably direct you better about what you could do at home to help it!

  • Please call the nearest wildlife sanctuary for further instructions. You need to get it to experts. Birds are very fragile when tended by humans. Do NOT give it soggy crackers as a complete diet. It needs protein and fat and you will kill it for sure. Birds are food specific and need to eat what their kind eats. I killed a baby crow as a child by feeding it bread and milk and it suffered needlessly becasue I did not know to call till it was too late.

You didn't say which part of Michigan so here is a page that lists all the Wildlife rehab places in your state:

Your local park district will have a care facility available, sometimes it might be just a local resident but a lot depends on the species,a common sparrow wouldn't receive much care for them, they are not a necessarily a 'need to save' species and they would ask you to complete the rehab yourself, otherwise if it is,say,a bluebird or some other song bird, they will help find someone with the correct license to handle that type of bird.

The humane society or a vet.....I don't think they will charge you for it...they are there to help animals including birds.

It's very nice that you're helping that injured bird.

I imagine that there's a local Animal Control agency or animal shelter that you can call.

I found an injured bird a few years ago and I took it to an animal shelter.

Perhaps if you go to http://www.superpages.com/ they'll have a listing for such an agency or place.
