  • I think it depends on the person. my husband likes quiet around him to be able to concentrate, while I am a "have to have noise around me, especially music" type person. I am a vocalist, however, while he was a dancer, so there is clearly something in our attitude to music that plays a part in whether we study to music or not.
  • I think it depends on the music. Some Classical music relaxes the listener, allowing them to disengage their mind from other concerns and focus on the studying at hand. For other people, I think it is about tuning out random outside noises by inundating oneself with the predictible sounds of familiar music. I have never found this to work for myself.
  • It helps me study by "keeping me in teh zone" its hard to explain, but it is a sence of utmost concentration in relaxation.
  • I used to like some quiet background music playing, like Bob Marley or something relaxing, whilst I was studying. I find silence really loud and distracting (if that makes sense?), I kind of need something that my ears can focus on instead of straining, trying to hear the nearest far away noise.
  • Well, because music can be soothing and relaxing and help you remain focused.
