  • Sir Alex Ferguson. He is the greatest football manager in the history of football. For the past 20 years, he's made Manchester United the team that it is today. Manchester United has great players, great strategies, because of the players and because of the manager that chose the players on their team. This year he's doing an exceptionally great job. Putting Saha and Rooney together as strikers. They play off of each other, and they get their goals they need to win, great teamwork. His choice of starting players this season is making them win the EPL. He gives the team good moral, and in my opinion, he's funny to watch. Now, every time Manchester get's a goal, he jumps like 2 feet out of his chair and sort of hops around-great stuff to watch. Man Utd is doing better than last year, I can tell you that.
  • Brian Clough - the greatest manager England never had
  • I agree with smart9426. Brian Clough was an incredible manager. He managed many "small" clubs and made them great clubs. With Derby he acheioved great things but it was with Nottingham Forest that he wins the greatest admiration. He took a team, that people like me from the south coast had ont heard of, up the divisions and on to win the European Cup - not just once but twice and when on the third attempt they were finally knocked out it was by a corrupt referee (bribing scandal). I also remember them coming back from 3-0 down from the home leg to go and win 4-0 away... (Only the Liverpool 4-3 final in recent years was a greater comeback). He was a great character and obviously rated his own abilites even higher than the rest of us did. He spoke his mind and callnig the England selection committee a group of old farts did not endear him to getting the England job. The only time I thoguht he did bad was when he managed Leeds. At that tiem a great club with great players who were forceful. Brian Clough was used to being the boss - and some of those players did not like to take orders. It did not work out well. Hence Im not sure if he would have been right for the England job. However his tactical mind, his ability to put players in the right position, where they and others had never considered they should play, showed he knew how to get the most out of them.
