test the water first, tell them you really like them and care for them then build it from there

You tell them and allow them to freak out, if they come back to you or return the gesture you will have gained. Nothing worse then not taking a risk for love

just tell them. what's to get freaked out about? if they do freak out,it's cuz they don't feel the same for you, and you can both move on. what's the big deal? its a win win situation
