If a tenant is evicted during the tenancy, can the evicted tenant be held responsible for rent until the unit is either rerented or the originally lease expires?

You're reading My car was towed after being totaled in an accident, I only have liability, so I gave them the title, but they still say I owe them $135 for towing expenses. Is this legal? Shouldn't my car be enough?
