  • disconnect the battery and drop the fuel tank, take the old one out, put the new one in
  • First confim that the fuel pump is defective(ie, getting power, but not functioning). Almost all Fords have a 'fuel pump relay', which would be much faster, easier & inexpensive to replace.
  • If you are sure the pump is bad you will need to remove the fuel tank to replace the pump. disconnect the battery ground cable. raise and support car on lift. remove fuel filler tube and vent tube at filler end. support fuel tank with transmission jack. remove fuel tank straps and lower tank for access to wiring and evaporative hoses disconnect wiring and hoses. lower tank. set tank on floor or bench. remove fuel pump module. replace pump. reverse removal procedure to install.
