  • Fulfillment comes to those who learn how to let go of things. Oddly enough, the more you let go, the more you get! "Lose your life to find it." So when all is lost, everything is gained. This is the spiritual quest, and how to find that "treasure hid in a field" Christ spoke about. This will explain what I am talking about: http://gospelenigma.com So it is not silly to say thou shalt not covet, since that is the way to have everything you ever wanted.
  • No, it is not. Covetousness leads to other sins. It is coveting the property of others that leads people to steal. It is coveting a person to whom one is not married that leads adultery. Coveting what someone else has leads to jealousy and hatred of those other people. Many of the ills of society can be traced back to one's coveting of that which other people have. So, covetousness is worthy of a high status in the list of sins because it leads to so many others.
  • no it was not ..coveting as satan and cain did is a very bad and evil thing....should never want others things, whether it be their spouse or wealth or material possessions.... it is in the top ten but no less important than any of the others except for "honoring your parents ", that is of our upmost Commandment of human life... the first 4 Commandments are of a man's relationship to God...HIS COMMANDMENTS TO HIM.. the last 6 are our relationship to all men...with Honoring parents being number 5 after the 4 to God... God is not silly.....its basic human nature to have selfishness, greed, envy, to lie, steal , rage and kill ,as Cain did!!! these are the Commandments we are to do our upmost not to committ....jealousy and envy caused satan to covet God's Power and Sovereignty, caused Cain to spill his brothers blood, when he could have went a got the offering that pleased God like Abel's...but he went into a jealous ,irrational rage, and killed his brother...he coveted God's praise of his brother.... all these emotions are very bad heart conditions ,,that we ourself can resist ,and not cause our children to be jealous of each other and to want what is not theirs..they will steal it if these kinds of thoughts are allowed to overwhelm them...lines drawn and taught....need to heed JUSTME:)
  • One of the first thing a toddler does is figure out how to lie. Should we just pat the kid on the head and say, " Leave him alone, it's his nature." or do you make rules to teach the kid proper behavior. That is all God did, so it is not silly.
