"Man From UNCLE" was groovy. I watched it a lot from the sixties. The women were out of this world gorgeous. Peace, Man.

They all look very dated and old fashioned.
-
I have only seen Mission Impossible. We watched it every week when I was a kid.
-
A LOT of fun to watch!

I didn't watch The Saint but I did watch the others. I liked The Avengers best because it seemed to be a little wittier..but I also enjoyed the other two shows as well! :)

I was so nuts about U.N.C.L.E. I used to write my own stories about Napoleon and Illya!! Also loved the Girl from U.N.C.L.E. Loved Roger Moore as the Saint--never did particularly like him as James Bond. Watched all the "Mission" years--did you Know the this tape will self-destruct dude was later the DA on the original Law & Order (Stephen Hill)? The avengers couln't seem to decide if it was hip or took itself too seriously--maybe it was me--after all I was only 16 at the time.

First the American shows; "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." - Excellent show, very in-your-face and tongue-in-cheek, that lost some of its charm when it switched to colour and tried to be too serious. Watching it now is okay and the chauvinism of Napoleon Solo is a hoot, but it hasn't aged well. "Mission Impossible" - Awesome show with an even better cast. The plots of the episodes are just as good if not better than Man From UNCLE and even though it doesn't have the charm of UNCLE, it has aged better. The sets, however, are very unrealistic and it's a wonder we ever believed that they were actual places. And now bring on the Brits... "The Saint" - Fantastic show with acting, writing and direction at an all-time high. Like UNCLE, some of the humour and charm was lost in the switch to colour and the sets became more obviously... sets. Overall the show has aged well and is still on my recommend list. "The Avengers" - And now to my favourite... There is a distinct possibility that it would be impossible to make a show this good these days. Patrick Macnee was the "rock" of the show as John Steed and with the addition of the strong female leads played by Linda Thorson, Honor Blackman and Diana Rigg, strong writing, and direction that was the peak for British TV at the time, this show just could not be beat. With some minor exceptions this show has aged so well, it better than most of the sh... stuff on the tube today. Note: The guy who decided to destroy many of the earlier episodes of "The Avengers" because they needed the storage space, should be taken out and publicly executed (if he's still alive that is). Hope these reviews help.
