I think so. I'm not too anti-Starbucks because they tend to treat their employees well (for now at least). However, they serve expensive, highly-caffienated coffee. A 16-ounce coffee at Starbucks has the same amount of caffiene as 5 1/2 regular-strength No-Doz pills.

I've always thought that their success came from the fact that they promote this strange new "contemporary woodsman" feel by having each store look like a modernized forest. But the caffeine doesn't hurt their sales.

I've never seen a Starbucks where I live, but from what I've heard, I always assumed the appeal was in the amount of sugar that is used in some of the drinks. White Chocolate this and Caramel Drizzle that - maybe that's what makes people go back for more, if it isn't the coffee percentage?

I wouldn't think so. They must just be very successful at employing their hype to get so many people to buy so much mediocre coffee for such a high price. I believe they also rip off poor farmers in Africa to keep their costs down. I certainly never use them.

Starbucks has less caffeine then real coffee places. Most the places these days aren't doing it as strong as it is supposed to be. I think they serve two shots, instead of four. So no, they don't.

No! It's either 100% coffee beans, or 100% shots of espresso (just coffee), it's all about how they roast it in the plant in washington.

at our store, our regulars stay at hour store for hours. sometimes longer than my shift... just to talk to us.

it's either the employees or the hype, i think.
