Help answer this question below.

Please help.....Do you think it's important to learn foreign language?. Can you tell me your reason ?. Do you think American troops who are sent to Irak they at least have to know the basic of "Arabic/ Iraqish Greeting" ?. Thanks

    Yes of course they should know some of the language, as we are all part of the human race, the brotherhood of man, being able to talk, communicate together is part of the richness of life itself!
    they are invading Iraq, being unwanted visitors, no-one thought of it as the No'1 priority!

    I think it is fundamental that any soldier who is in contact, or has the possibility of being in contact, with the local population MUST know simple greetings in their language.

    How are you supposed to make a good impression, and win people over if you can't demonstrate that you care enough about them to learn how to say hello?

    In life for the average person - It isn't important to learn a foreign language if you are never going to use it. It certainly opens doors though.

    They are briefed on culture and common sayings before they go into any country. Including Iraq.

    I think exercising your mind in any form is a good thing to do.. Learning a foreign language can really give your brain a workout.

    Any education you get is something no one can take away from you. Learning another language is an invaluable resource, particularly, in a society where the majority of people speak two languages. However, it is important to learn Arabic to bomb, shoot, kill and torture people. You can do that in any language or with no language at all besides, I have a feeling that they won't like it any better if you commit the above injustices in their own language

    Absolutely not. The American troops have very effective methods to make foreigners understand what they want and so it is a waste of time and energy if an American soldier would get bothered by learning any kind of a stupid foreign language.
    And the American and British troops never go somewhere to say just "Hello" or something kind when they are using first of all their weapons before they ask.
    British are used to use their rifles to say "Hello" and this kind of language by everybody in the world is very well understood.
    And Americans use their cuise missiles if they want to inform the people in a foreign country.
