Practice driving in an empty parking lot, emphasis on empty. I used to work at a mall and would see people taking improptu lessons in and among the parked cars, nearly clipping the.

Aslo, don't practice TOO long, too much time in a "safe" environment makes it difficult to go out in the real world.

Practice in an empty lot where there's nothing to run into. This will let you get a feel for the car, sharpen up your reflexes and build up your confidence for later. Move from here into empty streets and gradually into traffic. GL .

Wreck the car. That way, it's already happened, and you won't have to worry about it anymore. :-)

Get someone to drive you out to a county park or grounds where there are large parking lots and no vehicles. Practice driving down the rows and backing up and parking in the slots.

I had the same problem. Hire a professional driving instructor, they can help you learn and perfect all thes skills you need to pass the test. They have a brake on the passenger's side, which made me feel less nervous.

  • Keep in mind Stop/Brake before the wreck :) I am not sure what a psychologist would suggest but I think you need to watch other people driving and look for those you think are real losers, red necks and/or trailer trash. They got a license. If they can do it surely you will have no problem. Drive a few times in a vacant parking lot or on streets with little or no traffic to practise. Good luck.
