If evolution has taken out most of our body hair, why do we still have them in the armpits and pubic parts? Do they serve any purpose?

The pubic hair was to originally trap pheromones (not sure of the spelling on that one) to help us find a mate.
Not sure about the armpit hair though.

Is it not possible that pubic and under-arm hair has also been retained in part because of its anti-chafing value ? If so this raises the question as to the relative date of overall hair loss and adoption of permanent upright posture, as pubic hair as distributed in both sexes is much more effective in the anti-chafing role when a quadrupedal stance is adopted.
