One of my dog seems to love eating grass. He eats his normal food and loves his treats. He doesn't appear ill but will eat grass as though best thing ever. My other dog only does this occasionally. As long as he seems well is it ok to let him eat the gras

A problem I can foresee is if the grass is contaminated with something, like fertilizers or insecticide.

Or worse! It's always best to train your dog not to eat anything you don't give to him. In our city there has been quite a number of dog poisonings over the last year or two, because someone(s) have been leaving poison around in the parks and the dogs eat it up.

I think it's a good for a pet owner two keep in mind two principles: (1) once you leave your front door, you lose almost 100% of your control over your environment, and (2) you can't trust strangers to have your dog's best interest in mind.

Have you spoken to your vet about this? I recommend doing so if you haven't already.

My dog used to eat grass and throw up later. I think dogs do it when they are sick like an upset stomach.

I just find it very perculiar. He's eaten grass ever since i've had him and will leave when told too. However this morning is what got me wondering. He loves to play, however this morning he was tossing his toy aside to be able to eat the grass. My kids being kids thought that seeings he loved it so much they would pull it up (long grass from public field) and bring it home for him! He was sick last night but isn't sick after eating the grass - it does look awful when it comes out the other end mind.

My dog eats grass, too. He's a lab, so he is very greedy. He's never gotten sick.
    So I think its ok.

    Dogs love grass.

One of two reasons dogs eat grass:

They like the taste or its for digestive purposes.

No dog has told me this, but over the years of being a dog owner, i have observed many of my dogs eating grass. most of the time, its after eating.

It is my understanding that dogs (and cats too) eat grass as a natural way to help them when they are constipated. All of my pets eat grass and it doesn't seem to harm them.

It's totally ok, my dog did the same thing and the vet said it's because he might have a stomach ache or his tummy doesn't feel well for some reason, and I guess grass helps make it feel better
