There's an official word list (OWL) used for tournament play in Scrabble -- it includes all the offensive words (including TWAT) normally excluded from the Official Scrabble Player's Dictionary & other 'family' word lists.
If it's in the dictionary you're using, it's considered a valid word, even if it's slang. The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (OSPD), 2nd Edition, says it's OK.
