  • I don't know, cats are weird and poop everywhere, but 2 ideas for pooping care 1. make sure the food and the llitter box are as far away from each other as possible 2. If a cat poops somewhere, clean the area and put a bowl of food there, indicating its not a pooping area. They also sell these mini mats with spikes(that you can put where you want) so that cats get the point after stepping on them a couple times(they hurt but they wont puncture her feet or anything)
  • Answer provided by "bigfat" is good, but here's some more to know - Keep the litter box clean! This means scooping out any clumps of pee/poop every single day. Just like you not wanting to use a dirty toilet, your kitty knows enough to steer clear of a dirty litter box! If you're using scented litter, be sure it's not too strong and offensive, turning him off from wanting to use the box and have to smell it (again). Be sure your cat has privacy when he's in the litter box - hopefully it has a hood over top so no one can watch, cause they do get shy! Don't place it in a high traffic area (hallway, or busy bathroom), or some place too far out of the way (like a basement). Be sure no children are bothering kitty when he's in his litter box. Just imagine you trying to relax and "go" with someone knocking on the bathroom door! I know it's frustrating, but try not to scold kitty when he messes in the wrong place. Your fussing will only frighten him, add anxiety to an already scary life, which might make his behavior even worse. The mess can always be cleaned! Get yourself a good carpet cleaner for use when needed. I use Resolve for occasional hairballs or other throw-up (I have a 6 pack of catz!), but there are plenty made especially for pet owners to remove smells to combat returns and marking. Hope this helps, and your kitty finds comfort in your home together. Lovin' Purrz!
