If there were no infinity a Star Fleet Ship moving at Warp Speed 10 would be theoretically impossible as the space craft would transmogrify into plasma.

I'm equally incapable of comprehending infinity as the lack of it.. so nothing changes from my perspective.... it still looks like this...????

If there was no infinity, humans would invent some word or idea to describe the concept. "Discovering" infinity is probably an important part of evolutionary thought and/or philosophy.

Of what? Time, space, questions on AB, the very concept of or the existence of? If there is not than there isn't just as a child may one day come to believe there is no Santa Claus - life as it is will continue until it is no more.

Each person lives in their own finite world.
The abstractions of infinity doesn't affect the normal lives of common people.
For them there is no infinity.
It is for the few who think too much that your question has a significance.
To me infinity is a fact to be wondered at. To be looked at in amazement. Infinity proves to me that there is God in the Heavens and all is well with the World.
It would be very sad to have to live in a world where the concept of infinity does not exist.
Also I am not sure if the world as we know it would exist if there was no infinity.
But I am not an expert. I will wait till all answers are posted to the question of yours, look at all the other answers and then post additional comments or even edit my answer.
This is not a question to be answered in a hurry. That too in the middle of an IPL Cricket match in progress in South Africa!

That's even harder to comprehend than infinity itself. Take space, for example; if it doesn't go on forever, what does it look like where it stops? How about numbers? Is there a point where you can't add "1" more? I'm like "faithiskey". Your question gave me a headache..lol

hmm, good question, thinking about that makes my head hurt, lol. I don't know, i guess if there was no infinity, the world would not be the way it is now.

    1) "In mathematics, whether or not a certain concept exists can depend on the context in which you ask the question. If you want to know more about this, you can refer to a fuller explanation of how a mathematical concept can exist in some contexts but not in others.

Here are some of the contexts in which the question "is there such a thing as infinity" can be asked, and the answers appropriate for each context. The details are given afterwards.

    1. In the context of a number system,
in which "infinity" would mean something one can treat like a number.
In this context, infinity does not exist.

    2. In the context of a topological space,
in which "infinity" would mean something that certain sequences of numbers converge to.
In this context, infinity does exist.

    3. In the context of measuring sizes of sets,
in which "infinity" means a measurement of the size of an infinite set.
In this context, such "infinity" concepts do exist but there are more than one of them, since not all infinite sets have the same size. So there does not exist any one single "infinity" concept; instead, there exists a whole collection of things called "infinite cardinal numbers"."

    2) "The actual infinity of God in every respect is Catholic dogma. In accordance with the Holy Bible (1 Kings 8:27; Psalm 144:3; 146:5; Sirach 43:29 sqq., Luke 1:37, etc.) and unanimous tradition, the Vatican Council at its Third Session (cap. i) declared God to be almighty, eternal, immense, incomprehensible, infinite in intellect and will and every perfection, really and essentially distinct from the world, infinitely blessed in Himself and through Himself, and inexpressibly above all things that can exist and be thought of besides Him."
    Source and further information:
    http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08004a.htm

No infinity would imply that this dogma of the Catholic Church would be false...

The concept of finte or infinite is one I argued in college many times. The idea of the infinite is pretty simple. "Y=2/x". The number that "x" is equal to can never be zero. In our everyday life things seem concrete and FINITE. Many argue that space is infinitely small. Such that the big bang did happen and that the universe is boundless.

even if there is notan infinity or an eternity, everyone and everything is going to live and die and cease to exist a long time before anyone or anything see's the end of it so it is really a moot point...

We wouldn't be able to solve some of the math problems without introducing the term infinity. What is 12 divide by 0? What is 1/3 in decimal form? How big is the universe?

If there was no infinity it would merely mean that it just hasn't been recognized yet...

Infinity is the sum of all things perceived and unperceived.
Zero is its inverse. (nearly impossible to explain- see below)

The only way to truly understand both is with an understanding of non-duality in mind; as im sure the Indian mathematicians who "invented" them recognized...
