Help answer this question below.

I applied for a job at a new company in my town and have received a rather promising invitation from the company...should I leave the one am on right away or should i wait?

    Never leave your current position until you have a confirmation of employment from the new employer.

    Depends on hiw firm an invitation it was.

    Nothing is lost by a bit of delay, eg: telling them that you are on a project in your old workplace, and would rather not leave before it is done in a month or two.

    If the firm you approached is a 'good' one they will most likely appreciate such loyalty and firm up the invite. If they are less trustworthy they may well insist on you switching NOW, even when that means leaving your current company short.
