Carrier Sense means that every Ethernet device listens to the Ethernet wire before it attempts to transmit. If the Ethernet device senses that another device is transmitting, it will wait to transmit.Collision Detection means that when multiple Ethernet devices accidentally transmit at the same time, they are able to detect this error.

Token passing schemes are a technique in which only the system which has the token can communicate. The token is a control mechanism which gives authority to the system to communicate or use the resources of that network. Once the communication is over, the token is passed to the next candidate in a sequential manner.

The difference between is CDMA/CD it can send frames of data faster then a token ring, because it doesn't wait for the first frame of bits to reach it's destination when it is already sending another frame, while toke ring passing, wait for the token(data) to be received before sends another token. I hope that helped. If you want a more technical answer please let me know. 0 Gravity
