  • I think the author of the book stating that Dumbledore is gay is all the proof you need since it's a character that she invented.
  • There is some moments that could be misintrepeted as having slightly homosexual overtones, but nothing concrete. I'm under the impression that J.K. Rowling herself said that Dumbledore was gay, so that's what I'm going with.
  • I don't believe there is any suggestion of Dumbledore's being gay in the books. The author probably realized she thought he was gay at some point but it is certainly not apparent in the text.
  • he never mentions a woman he likes and he touches harry a lot
  • When you re-read his relationship with Grindelwald AFTER JK Rowling's comment that she always felt he was gay, then you see a couple things really clearly--mainly, how it was he could be so caught up in the excitement of his new "friend" that his judgement was compromised.
  • It's not about absolute proof, or that his sexuality affected his character, it simply did't needed to be brought out. But as a few other ABers had posted his relationship with Grindelwald was definatly not platonic, maybe not on both ends, but Dumbledore was definatly in love with him. JK Rowling might not have thought about it activly while writing, and might not have realised until she reread it, how her character was affected. Sounds weird I know, but when you are caught up in writing, you may not always realise where things are coming from.
  • I don't think so. Being gay doesn't automatically make your personality "gay" somehow, nor does it make every friendship you have with someone of the same sex a romantic one.
