Shut your bedroom door so that he is not in there unsupervised, and put your clean towels in a linen closet. Hang your dirty/wet towels up until they are dry; then, put them in a hamper with a lid. As for kitty, if this is a sudden change in behavior, he needs to see a vet.

try switching the litter, there are many different textured and semlling litters he may not like the texture or smell. if there is a lid on the box take it off he may want a more open space. also put a kitty matt in front of the litter box some cats get realy anoid at the litter stuck to there feet.

It's possible, too, at six months old that the hormonal thing is starting to kick in and it could be a territorial thing

He could be marking his territory. Male cats tend to start in with sexual maturation at about 6 months of age. Consider getting him fixed and until you can keep him confined to an area that is near his bed, food, and litter box. Getting him fixed might not totally solved the problem though if he has already started with marking his territory. Sometimes the behavior can become habit. You need to totally get the scent marks out of anything he has urinated/defecated on or even after he is fixed he might still sniff out those places he has marked and do it again.

Sounds like a UTI to me- Urinary Tract Infection- He is trying to tell you he hurts by going somewhere obvious so you will notice. This is how they tell you somethings wrong.
