there are good and bad parts. Cuteness is well and good, but it sucks when designers stop being original and start making shows with cookie cutter characters like AIR and Kanon (look! she's got big ol' eyes and she's totally helpless! she'll do anything for you! how very moe!). that's just uninspiring. I also wonder what effect all these helplessly cute female characters may have on perceptions of gender among anime fans. Not that anime culture has ever been a paragon of gender equality...

+5 Moe is a choice. I agree with you on almost every point. I feel it sells. So with the state of things in the days they are, if Moe can keep it alive, I'm al for it. I have gone back to the old school stuff. And stayed true to the new stuff i love.
