Serious question actual rule not opinion... in high school/college baseball do you have to use a minus 3 oz aluminum bat or could you use a minus 1 or 2 oz? i know they don't make them but i can get it custom. if you can post a link to actual rule or how

NCAA Rule 1 Section 12(b)(5) A bat may not weigh, numerically, more than three units less than the length of the bat (e.g., a 34-inch-long bat cannot weigh less than 31 ounces). (6) A non-wood bat must have an approved, coded certification mark on the barrel of the bat signifying the bat is legal for NCAA competition. The high school rule is basically the same. Both rule codes require all non-wood bats to meet the BESR (Ball Exit Speed Ratio) standard. To meet the BESR test standard, the bat cannot weigh more than three ounces less than the numeric length. So the answer is yes, a -1 or -2 bat could be used as long as it was tested and certified as meeting the BESR standard and display a permanent BESR mark on the bat. Most manufacturers, however, only make -3 bats for BESR testing. If someone did make you a -1 or -2 bat, the bat would still have to go through the BESR testing.
