  • The most important thing for a résumé is enthusiasm, with literacy a close second. In other words... When writing your résumé, make sure that your desire for the job you are applying for shows in your writing. This will be easiest to show in your résumé cover letter, which should be different for each job applied for and be more personable and less "just the facts". And... Make sure your spelling and grammar are correct. This may not matter as sometimes the person reading it won't notice. But when it is noticed... you just went on the rejected pile. When filling in the "previous work experience" lines on your résumé, "no experience, but eager to learn and apply new skills" works just as good and sometimes far better than, "Worked three years pumping gas at an Exxon Station". Always include any classes you are taking or certificates for which you are studying. As said in another answer, always include your interests, hobbies and non-related skills. However, I wouldn't consider "able to lick my own eyebrows" a skill, no matter how useful it's been. Hope this helps.
