Socks...like socks...especially ankle socks with cute embroidery on them, and also boot socks!

I treated myself to some lovely bright pink socks when I was in London a few weeks ago. Well - if you are passing by Harrods you have to buy something!
by dea_ex_machina on April 16th, 2009
MMMM, London...I wish...I live in the States, in the armpit of the universe (Arkansas) with no hope of ever getting out, lol...my daughter is going to France this summer for an internship, perhaps she will get a chance to make a road trip to London (her dream is to move there after college) and if so I will give her most strict instructions to visit Harrods for socks for her dear old long-suffering mom!
by Lazs Mouse on April 16th, 2009
where is she going to in France? I spent a year there when I was at Uni. It is easy enough to get to London - just op on the Eurostar in Paris - direct train link right through to Waterloo, then you hop off the Eurostar, and out of the station, and just over the bridge is the Houses of Parliament!

She will be at university in Rions (hope that's correct, my international geography is sadly lacking, sorry to say) as part of an internship with her university here in the States...bet she'll have a chance to get to London, she is looking forward to the trip! Eurostar...will have to let her know to buy transrail passes!
by Lazs Mouse on April 16th, 2009
Not sure where Rions is - have you spelled it right? Reims? Rouen? Lyon?
by dea_ex_machina on April 16th, 2009
Rouen, most likely...she will be at university there...speaks to the sad state of American education, lol, but not really a laughing matter....
by Lazs Mouse on April 16th, 2009
Ah! Rouen is handy for Paris - and handy for the tunnel.
Is she doing all of her uni studies there? or just spending a year there?
by dea_ex_machina on April 16th, 2009
Only about 6 weeks during the summer sponsered by one of her home university's courses...she is looking forward to it, and if it were possible I truly think she would prefer to transfer her American college credits to a university overseas, her lifelong dream has been to study and live somewhere whithin Great Britain...
by Lazs Mouse on April 17th, 2009
well.. there are lots of scholarship opportunities for US students to study in UK - http://www.britishcouncil.org/usa-education-funding-your-studies.htm

Thanks, dea--will pass the link on to her--with the "swine flu" thing going on at the moment, am wondering how/if it will affect plans...just have to wait and see, I guess...
