  • Cats tend to be outside, where no one can keep an eye on them, and if there is one thing they like more than foods its....er....other cats. Its VERY VERY hard to get a cat to wear a condom, so there is only one other option, sorry puss :-)
  • To keep it from spraying
  • To keep it from getting a female cat pregnant. It also makes a male cat more apt to stay close to home and be more content.
  • To keep it from spraying, to keep it from becoming aggressive, to keep it from impregnanting a female cat and bringing kittens into the world that have a good chance of being euthinized in an animal shelter. Because it's the right thing to do!
  • To keep down the population of feral kittens and cats. One male can impregnate many females and females can have multiple litters during any given year and so can their offspring. There are too many homeless and feral cats and they can even affect the local ecology- making inroads in the bird population. It's just not good. Plus, you wouldn't want to see any animal alone and cold and fleabitten and starving. The urban and semi urban world is not set up for homeless cats and the rural world is tough and they don't live long out there. Either way, this should be avoided.
  • Neutering a male cat is the best way to reduce objectionable behaviors like fighting, roaming, and spraying. More than 90% will reduce this behavior with neutering. Approximately 60% reduce this behavior right away. And there is the other reason, they won't be going around making more kittens. Plus it helps him to grow into a loving well adapted household citizen.
