Whenever I've heard it, it's the equivalent of saying "Whoo hoo."
w00t is generally a term to signify a good thing, happiness, or other cheerful connotations while playing videogames.
as far as I know, woot came about from D&D (dungeons and dragons) but now is used in most Rpgs and mmorpgs. from those, ive heard from several other players that it is a shortening of "wow, loot!" that is, the finding of 'treasure' in the game.
Slang it does not mean anything. it is not a real word.
In the Disco era "Woot Woot" was a cat call or party call to get the attention of women and was considered sexual.
Here is an excerpt from wikipedia "Of uncertain origin; most likely from a 1993 dance catch-phrase “whoot, there it is!” from the band 95 South, but other theories exist, such as that it is a blend of wow and loot (as might be exclaimed during a role-playing game), an acronym for “we owned the other team”, a corruption of root (as might be exclaimed by a hacker on obtaining root access), or a derivative of Scots hoot"
