Bad call. THe plate umpire had it right. Pitchers have gotten less for balls that DID hit the batter.
Good grief DC, seems excessive too me...without pay? +5
The problem is: when no one is injured by someone's anger we, the public, kinda sigh and say all is well. It's not b/c sooner or later he is going to hit someone and either kill them or cause them significant brain injury. And this is when all the bandwagon'ers will start saying someone should have did something when he 'almost' hit the first one.
too much, too little, too late for the hurt or dead person
It's a ridiculous penalty for a non-event. The plate umpire made the correct non-call after the incident. It was an accidental pitch thrown after time was called while he was in motion. Last year Joba Chamberlain of the Yankees threw an actual pitch behind Kevin Youkilis' head (nothing accidental about it), and no action was taken at all.
Probably about right...it means he'll miss one, maybe two starts...
yep.?

You're reading MLB suspended Josh Beckett six games (and fined) for intentionally pitching close to Bobby Abreu's head. Do you think it's enough or too much of a penalty for Beckett?
