Why not keep them in the aquarium? If you have plants in there, they can hide. They'll know what to do.

Take them to a pet shop? Maybe. If you put them in the river, you may ruin the river for all time, because if they are carp species, they will grow into huge monsters, and eat everything there, including all native species, and eat out the banks of the river, and it will collapse.
