  • Hell yeah..
  • Of course. The government openly hides information from its people.
  • I think you'd have to be pretty naive not to, no matter whose government you're referring to.
  • Most defiantly, especially about 9/11
  • Yup! They always have done, and always will do. Example pentagon papers - United States-Vietnam Relations, 1945-1967
  • Information is power. It is jealousy guarded for many reason both good and bad. They most jealousy guard their "donor lists!"
  • Well that depends- some people are definetly very bad to get info about government stuff. so yea they are.
  • Yes...absolutely. Read up on the pentagon's spending...the other branches of the government don't even know where it is spending all that money...or so we have been told.
  • thats a no brainer! of course they do. there are so much money stashed into programs and such; it would blow you away. thank god there are people who stay abreast of this and then make it public for us.
  • I think there is some subterfuge; but for the most part, the information is accessible.
  • Yes I believe they do, there is a more open policy than there used to be and if you want to dig you can find out a lot of things not told freely.
  • Abso-freaking-lutely. There is a huge "black" budget that only select members of Congress get to even have an inkling of how it's being used. http://www.amazon.com/Blank-Check-Pentagons-Black-Budget/dp/0446514527/ And even in the non-military budget, all sorts of double-dealing, earmarks, targeted exemptions and other sleights of hand are used to keep the public unaware of just how deep the corruption goes. Here's one recent example: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2007/06/19/halliburton/index.html
  • Of course. Every government in past empires has hidden secrets from the people and kept them ignorant to avoid rebellions. What makes this country's government any different?
  • Yes. They're gathering it from AB. (allegedly)
  • Are you new to Earth?
  • of course it is.
  • Do I think they are - no. Do I know they are - yes.
  • Yeah, I think so. If I knew what, then it wouldn't be hidden. =P
  • Of course. That's the nature of the government.
  • Yes, the government is hiding things such as the specific information on your neighbors tax on income. Your neighbor can rest assured that your government will keep that private and confidential no mater how much you want to know how much your neighbor makes.

  • a lot of information that the government gets is confidential - my tax returns, disability findings from SSA, medical records of soldiers shot in Iraq, public health records. There are also, of course, matters of security. I can't tell you by what energy source the latest aircraft is propelled by. I can't tell a reporter the names of 100 CIA agents or they each might be killed. the government doesn't make public much documentation on criminal cases it prosecutes. Then there's the stuff about which, i guess, you're asking. are there UFOs, is there a vast right wing conspiracy, whatever happened to the emails that were in the white house and republican national committee, could we be secretly supporting the Afghanistani's in opium production, as it has increased from 74 tons to 16,000 tons since US troops have been there. well, for these kinds of things, i don't posess information, but, yea, i think that some of it might be worth further examination... what do you think?
  • Of course they are they have been hiding shit for years but they do these things because the public is not ready for certain things. The question is once the goverment drops it to another level lower do they watch them to see how it is used. You think?
  • ya, msot people couldnt handle the truth(literally) and would freak out and its just easier to not tell the general consensus for control and safety reasons.
  • Not like Bush did, thank you.
  • I don't think there's any question about it. I don't even think the government would deny that.
  • I would sure as hell hope so. If not, we are waaaaay more boring than I feared.
  • always, but thats not always bad because lots of things they hide is for our own benefit. People may complain but who really thinks it will help to reveal our latest weapons and planes and intelligence methods. It will only make our enemies defend themselves better against us. Also most people wont understand why we get into international affairs anyway, if we dont do it somebody else will and then we will have more trouble to deal with.
  • always
