  • 1 no i dont have kids but i do have a dog (:
  • not before 18 months at least, possibly not much before three. You can tell when a kid is ready. Some are quicker, some later. My first girl was three when I removed the nappy. I told her that when she turned three she would be a big girl and not need a nappy. I told her so often, she believed it!

  • It is usually around the age of 3 or even a little after they are 2. It starts at different stages for every child. I would say, let your child decide when they are ready to potty train. If you really want them to learn though, then show them how cute panties/underwear are, and that they can wear them when they stop wetting and pooping in their diaper. I have done potty training both ways, and when I forced my Daughter to go the bathroom, and have her sit on the toilet and go, she just rebelled (granted every child is different) but the same result came from my Nephew as well, he started rebelling. I let my Daughter however, tell me when she wants to go potty, and she loves it even more. I also have shown her that I wear panties too, and if she wants to be a good girl, she needs to go potty in the toilet, to get this big girl treat. Every child is different, but I would just show them how fun it is to go on the potty, instead of sitting or staying in their wet diaper. (Another thing, is if you get mad at your child for going in their diaper, they may want to keep doing it, to rebel. Also if you celebrate the fact they go in the potty, they will know it is a great thing as well.) Our potty training is almost done with our Daughter, but every once in a while she doesn't want to go, most likely because she has her younger brother in which she thinks she has to compete with, in which she doesn't. She loves to go potty in the toilet though, she loves it.
  • Maybe 2? My daughter always seems to pick up things quickly and definitely inherited some OCD from her mother.
  • Trying to do it now he's 2 and a half, but having a hard time, he is fighting it all the way!
  • Many kids show interest in potty training by age 2, but others may not be ready until age 2 1/2 or even older. And there's no rush. If you start potty training too early, it may only take longer. 2
  • i feel that if they can walk and they have really really good control then go for it my son (16 months) is not walking a lot but when he looks like he needs to go i put him on his potty.
  • I had mine potty trained at 13 mts, when they can tell you they need to use it or you know their patterns of pottying take them to the potty & say lets go potty like a big boy or girl. If they are old enough to bring you a diaper to change then they are to old not to be potty trained, lol. Don't punish your child though, you will scare them but give them lots of praise while training. Make it a fun time, I always heard boys were so hard to train but I had mine trained in 1 month. Just be patient & consistant & loving & have fun with it because they are only little once but never spank them for accidents or anything like that it terrifies them & you'll never get them trained. Good luck, you will know if your child is ready those parental instincts kick in.
  • No. In fact late by some peoples thinking yo...
  • Probably a bit young but by all means, try sitting her on a potty after meals or if she looks as if she needs to "go" and see what happens.
  • here is an idea if you have a lil boy who dont like the potty**you can try to put some Cherios in the big potty(lol) and tell him to aim for the Cherios my sister inlaw did it with my nephew and it worked for her... and ,y daughter is 11 months and i have started to put her on the potty its nothing right now put i want her use to it for when the time comes..i think by 1 1/2 she will be potty trained...
  • Around two to three yers old. It depends on how fast the child is learning and growing.
  • Sometime between 1 1/2 and 3. I varies alot! I would suggest not pushing too soon though because it scares them away from it. i have 4 and they all started at different times.
  • I think it depends on the kid, boys take longer to get potty trained than girls do in most cases because of nerves in the plumbing, but overall I think 3 should be a good goal to shoot for. A child shouldn't be older than 3 and still in diapers, but again I guess it depends on the kid.
  • well..my little sister is 22 months and we started potty training her a week ago..she picked it up incredibly quick..2 is the ideal age..but don't worry if your child is a late bloomer
  • Let your kid be the one who decides. I bought a potty for my daughter around 15 months. She used to sit on it in her diaper like a little chair, but became accustomed to it. (It made a flushing sound too... just like mommy's potty!) and it went pretty easy from there. She was potty trained by about 2 years, but I tried very hard NOT to pressure her. Boys tend to take longer from my friends experiences and one friend's daughter peed in the potty at 2 but didn't poop in the toilet regularly until she was past 3 yrs. Every kid is different.
  • they say 18 months is when you should start, but if she shows she is ready go ahead and do it now
  • hello, no,i think its jus about right, introduce her first to the potty, dont rush her,let her know that this is where you tinkle and poop, then you tell her to let you know by a sign like pointing to that part.if shes able to say pee pee or poopy then tell her to say that.as i said dont rush things.
  • I say she will let you know when she is ready.
  • I'm sure everyone will tell you, all kids are different. But if your child isn't well on the way at age 3 or completely trained, then I personally say it's time.
  • definitely before age 30.
  • I have a 2 year old that has expressed interest, but is just not ready. maybe when he's 3 we'll have more luck
  • Start at 2 1/2 depending on childs ability and aim for fully trained at 3. Should take a few months.
  • About age 2 or 3. Heres some help for the younster; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFVoLz88hiU
  • By the age of 3. I worked in childcare for many years. And there are some that are trained by the age of 2 1/2 yrs old. But it can go to 3 1/2 yrs old. But on average it is 3 yrs old. Girls are easier to train too.....go figure HEHEHEHE :) Great question +3
  • When they are ready. but by around 3 or 3 and 1/2. Unless they have a weak bladder and the child has ''Night Leaks`` I know of one chaild who had to wear Good nights til she was 10. But do no confuse this with Potty training. Just be aware of it.
  • Three, I think.
  • When they're 3
  • I can't remember how old my youngest son was when he was potty trained, maybe about 2ish. I remember he was at a daycare nursery. But really, it depends on the child. Also, you've got to factor in any disabilities they may have. My eldest son is severely disabled and still in nappies and he's 14. It's not like we haven't tried with the training. Firstly, he wouldn't sit on the special pot (had to be a special needs one because he was too big for a normal potty and also couldn't support himself). Now he's more sturdy and able to sit on the loo, he just doesn't do anything. It's sad but also we have to consider how physically harder on us it is to even get him sat on the loo. We've been told my professionals that it's probably too late now. Sigh. We tried.
  • Around 2 almost 3, but every child is different. My daughter was trained by 2yrs of age.
  • I'm quite surprised by all the answers , but as far as I know , in our family and friends and everyone around us who has a child , 18 months is ok , and it's late when a 2-year-old child isn't potty trained .
  • Start, whenever they can say potty. For us it was between a year and eighteen months. We have one more to train now she is 5 months old.
  • Come on forget this modern diaper selling foolishness! A child should be toilet trained by 14 months! That is how old or even younger for most of us born before disposiable diapers hit the market were toilet trained. The diaper companies want you to continue buying diapers for as long as they can to make more profit. Parents have bought into the lie of the companies and therefore don't take the time to train their children. My daughter was trained at 15 months.
  • Each child is different but generally as a guide at some point between the ages of 2 and 3 your child should start training
  • 21 months onward
  • when they can walk and get on the toilet in my opinion its better to start early
  • The average age for potty training is 30 months, although the childÕs age may range from 18 months to 60 months. Girls are usually potty trained earlier than boys. Source: http://www.med.umich.edu/opm/newspage/2005/hmpotty.htm
  • The average potty training age is 20 to 29 months for girls and about 31 months for boys, according to the University of Michigan Health System. Most children are potty trained by the age of 3. Source: http://www.med.umich.edu/yourchild/topics/toilet.htm#averageage
  • Mmmm well my daughter was potty trained at I don't know we started when she was 1 as far as stopping diapers but she was walking too (they have to be able to walk, unless your one of 'those' people who think they can potty train a 6mnth old)and we were really lax about it she peed on the potty when she wanted and it took her till 2 1/2 to be completely potty trained. My friend started at 2 her son is now 2 1/2 he does it all but wiping. And my nephew took till he was 5 to be completely done (i.e. no accidents at all) I think I agree usually at least three but it can take longer. Just remember they wont be in high school peeing their pants, sooner or latter it will be done.. Good luck
  • all children are different, youll know when its time
