Do I have to buy special oil to lubricate the cutters on my paper shredder, or can I just use a light machine oil such as sewing machine oil? Does the oil make the paper unsuitable for reycling?

Yes, you can use light machine or sewing machine oil, and no, paper shredded that comes in contact with the oil will not be unsuitable for recycling as the oil is easily separated from the paper in the re-pulping process.
