I don't, my fiance' stays away when I am sick or in pain, he likes to be coddled but I hate it myself, it doesn't help me feel better, I like to just be left alone to rest or "deal". I have lower and mid backpain since a really bad car wreck a few years back, it never goes away, it subsides but is always there, can't do much physical labor without pain meds

I think it's the nature of the beast. we're in pain, stay away so I can suffer in peace. I don't want people around to watch and pity me. Or hear me suffer or when I grunt. Just leave me alone.

You are not the only one. I want the environment quiet and I want to be alone.

I am exactly the same. The pain makes me irritable sometimes and I just can't concentrate on what people are saying, nor do I want to. The pain is all consuming. I empathize with you. :(

Sometimes I'd rather be alone, with just my cat, when I'm in pain, especially after I've had the nerve block/anti-inflammatory shots, because until they kick in, the injection area is VERY sore. My peer-support workers don't always understand why I get the shots. It's either deal with the pain that way, or go back to Percocet, which I'd rather not do. And I find that when someone has a mental illness, some doctors who don't know about chronic PHYSICAL pain, will try to find some 'emotional' reason, and be extremely skeptical about treating you. I can understand that concern, especially here in lawsuit-happy America.
That's why I have a pain-management specialist who treats me.

Sorry if I ranted, but my Tika knows how to comfort me, with her purring and gentle touch, and by staying by my side.

You are not the only one. When I am sick, I want my bedroom, my bed, my 2 cats, and that is all. Everyone else, go away!

For me it depends on the pain. If someone else can help relieve it (foot, back) they are welcomed to stay.

I prefer to be left alone when I'm in pain but I like to have someone in the house in case I need them.
My partner is really good like that, he stays out of my way but checks in on me occasionally.

Im the same way. I have 5 ruptured hernaited disk. Pinching both nerves in both legs. I hurt so bad at times I do get actting like a a--hole and the wife cant stand me. Some times I hurt so bad I sit and cry. Now I'm living by myself and my 2 dogs and when I fall I have to crawl to the couch or bed. I cant walk alot of times. The doctors have no idea how I am able to walk due to the pain Im in. But I can't do anything because of my 2 dogs I can't leave my babies alone in the house.
