The timing may be off. I had similar symptoms with a different car. My timing belt skipped a tooth so it was powerless until it warmed up.
Have a mechanic check to see if the timing is set correctly.
I have an 07 Jetta with the same problem, but I find it hard to believe the timing belt would be slipping so early in its life. And now that others are reporting the same symptom, I am thinking the transmission fluid is slow to react and the problem is with the trans. Mine is the kind you can drive as a stick/5 speed or automatic. I always drive it as an automatic. I was afraid it would give me trouble because of the trans. More features, more to go wrong. I just live with it and know it will take a second or two for the trans to engage and get me out of the garage in the mornings.

Is Jetta GLS 2000 2.0 L (4 cylinders) a non-interference engine ?
If not, than why VW is not recommending replacing timing belt ?

You're reading If i dont warm up my jetta, even in the summer, then the car acts like there is a connection missing between the foot pedal and the engine. I can floor it and nothing will happen. What is wrong?
