In front of the quilt.

I think that if you have a small easel out from of each quilt, a little to one side, with the information, that helps keep people from getting too close to the quilts and makes it easy for many to read. If it's to the side on the wall that would work, too as then they wouldn't be standing in front of the exhibit. And it's a nice touch if a corner of the quilt is folded back and secured in some sort of safe way so that people can see the backs of the quilts if you won't be having people with gloves on hand to show the backs to those that want to see that.

If it's a wall-mounted sign or paper I'm thinking it should be the same level as handicap signs or brail signs are: the bottom of the sign should be 60" from the floor.
