  • You don't really pluck the strings hard on a bass. This technique went out long ago with the acoustic upright bass, as a way to get the low notes heard over the other instruments. All the new electric basses are plucked delicately utilizing good technique. Plucking your guitar strings hard shouldn't damage anything or cause any problems. I just don't see why you would want to do this. If plucking hard causes your strings to break, you can take it to a music store and have the strings replaced with heavy guage strings.
  • i think what your discribing is the hook snap...that when you hook your finger under the string a bit and pull out wards a little then let it snap back...this creates an unique sound thats groovy and chunky. if your getting the sound you want out of anything, then its never bad, even if it breaks your instrument.
  • No, not at all. I play blues and really beat on my acoustic. Unless you guitar is a cheapy, they are hard to break.
