conservative has always meant one who does not take chances and takes the least risks this is applied in politics as the people who do not make big decisions and take the least amount of risk unless majior pressure is put on them

Nothing. It has been hijacked by people like Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity/Sarah Palin and all the other right-wing fringes. The true conservative is either hiding or biding his/her time until it is "safe" to come out and reclaim the mantle. Where the heck are they? What's holding them up? They are letting the inmates run the insane asylum, for goodness sakes! :)
