Help answer this question below.
Personally, I find that a bit hard to believe. Flood insurance only makes sense if you live someplace that is subject to flooding. There are many, many places where this really isn't a danger. So, it would be quite unfair to require the people living in such places to buy the insurance.
Well I live in the desert. They will have a hard time enforcing that one. It rains maybe twice a year.
The government offers very cheap flood insurance if you live in a high risk flood zone. I could see them making it mandatory in those zones, but not everywhere.
i doubt everyone. I live in a very dry area. it doesn't rain or get very cold often.
Not for everyone....I do though because I do live in a flood zone and it darn near got me last year.
I would tend to doubt its veracity. There are many places in the US which flooding doesn't occur. That is sort of like having tornado insurance in Seattle...
Only those that live in a flood zone.
Right now my back yard looks like I need some. :(
Not everyone but it's good for those who live in flood prone zones..
Unlikely. My apartment is several feet above the river and I am likely to move soon into a aparment on the second level of a building on a hillside. If floodwaters reach up there then most of the two would be well submerged.
No. Incorrect.
The people living on the 15th floor of the apartment building down the block would be pretty peeved to hear that;)
I dont understand why people HAVETA have flood insurance....its their house, if they wanna loose it...then fine....dont make them pay for something every month (or however)...if they dont want to....they have a choice.
I doubt it. Why do it need flood insurance if I live on top of the mountain?
It is already required in most states to have flood insurance if you reside in a flood zone and are seeking financing. Especially Federal financing programs like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
And the flood zones were being widened.
This was as a result of flood insurance being voluntary and many people choosing not to have coverage and losing all and the banks losing their equity.
Boy! If it is I betcha the hilltop folks'll be pissed!
;-)
no problem, I already having it.

You're reading Is the rumor that everyone in the US will be required to have flood insurance correct?
Comments
That's what I thought, but like I said it's only a rumor. I have yet to read anything solid on it.
