Might be the relay as well
u have a bad temp sensor very cheap to fix! u might b able to change it your self go to your local auto store they will help u
My brand new Jetta did that. I had to take it to the dealer, It needed a new fan.
Well yeah the temp sensor has gone bad most likely, depending on your car and how much money you want to spend you could replace it. Myself, I would just hook the fan up to a toggle switch. Doin that allows you to turn it on-off when you want.
As others have said it could be and most likely is the thermostat in the cooling fan system. Check for loose, disconnected or broken wires in the thermostat wiring system. Then if all that checks good then check the thermostat itself. Remember the engine thermostat is different from the thermostat in the radiator cooling fan system.
You didn't say how long it takes for the battery to run down before it is dead. If the battery is old, or weak or not fully charged at shut down of the engine the battery could be the problem as well.
try to disconnect the fan or the temperature sensor, charge up the battery and seek advice from a car mechanic.hope this helps
