If you know where he's staying, you can do two things. Contact the IRS. This will cause him great trouble if they choose to investigate.

But to collect what is owed you, file a suit against him for the statutory limit in your state, if it's that much. He may not be answering to the court but he'll have to answer to the lawsuit.

Cite him for contempt of court. All you have to do is find him once to serve process on him. If he doesn't show up at court, then the judge will have a warrant issued for him. If he does show up, then the judge can fine and even imprison him until he makes at least some payment. To find out more, check out the resources for your state at http://www.childsupportweb.com

Contact your state's Title IV-D agency. You should be able to get the number from your local Clerk of Courts.

For a one time $25 fee, they will handle all of this for you. Trust me, they are nasty in collecting from non-paying parents, and have many weapons in their arsenal. They can suspend passports and drivers licenses, garnish wages and intercept income tax refunds.

DO NOT pay a company to do this for you. They usually charge a percentage of the collected support. Why do that when you can have your state do it for $25?

Hey I am in the same boat of my ex is not paying his court ordered support, but he is self employeed and tells the county that he hasn't had a paycheck in a year....yeah right. And the county doesn't follow thru with their threats. So if you have any advice I would love to hear it.

Interesting! If her husband can't be tracked how do you know his job pays him under the table. We have a similar issue, yet it is my husband who apparently is the deadbeat dad. We complete tax returns yearly half of which is my money. We pay child support, actually now we are paying it twice back, as the ex was nice enough to stop child support collection a while back so we were paying her directly, then she decided it wasn't enough, and back tracked to the day we officially stopped it and Child Support was nice enough to ask us to repay it all again, even though we had evidence we had paid her. Now the IRS takes my tax returns and my money as well and this is not my child. I collect nothing from my ex for my children, if he chooses to do the right thing then he should, if not it was my choice to have the children too.
Forget paying so much attention to the money and pay attention to the child. It is a virus how many parents lose sight of what is really important..

If you know who his employer is, report them to the IRS.
Do it in such a manner that you can include a sentence about the deadbeat owing x amount in past due child support and that you would appreciate any and all assistance the agent can to do assist you in collecting. at the least they'll ignore it but he'll be looking for work again, at the best they'll help you with the procedure to get it collected.

Does he see the Children? Have a relationship with them? There many sides to this matter. Also I married a woman and took on the responsibilty of her children.
It was easier to move on as a family then to beat a dead horse.
