  • No. They are two completely different things. Marriage is a legal status given by the state to two unrelated people of age who decide to enter into such a contract. Polygamy isn't.
  • I think so. Why are we allowed to be the judges of how many people want to be in a relationship? I have never understood why its ok for a man to have many girlfriends at once and even make a show about all of them living with him (hugh hephner) but if they just so happen to call more than one of them his wife they are considered a polygamist and must be sent to jail!
  • I'm sick of questions like this. Polygamous marriage has no correlation with gay marriages. Polygamous marriages should NOT be allowed in society. I believe that gay marriage should be allowed.
  • The two have little relation to each other. If you want to talk about polygamous marriage, find some people who want to have polygamous marriage, and get their point of view -- listen to their arguments. Then listen to the other side too... see who has the best set of points. The gay marriage argument has already been won by those who feel it should be legalized, because the anti- side has yet to mount a meaningful argument to counter. Now we're just waiting for the ignorance and superstition of the past to get flushed out through the digestive system of history.
  • Yes, polygamous marriages should be legalized. Those who claim Biblical reasons had better learn more about their Bible..Actually the Bible does not say if there should be Polygamous, monogamous or celibate. However there were many polygamous marriages in the Old Testament and nowhere in the New Testament was it ever changed. Because there are more women than men it would allow more women desiring to marry to marry and in the overall idea of polygamy it is very good for the women and very hard for the men and I am not talking sex here either. One thing to know...Christian polygamy is NOT like Mormon polygamy. Christian polygamy is not forced. Here is some information on polygamy to help others understand. http://www.christianpolygamy.info/history/
  • polygamous marriage isn't legal for anyone... I think gay marriage should include all the rights of hetero marriages, but I don't think that anyone needs the right to be married to more than one other person.
  • haha Well you know if you are a person who bases your definition of marriage on biblical examples then sure it should. After all the bible has many examples of plural marriage...that makes it right right? HA HA HA
  • Yes, it would be discriminatory to do otherwise. They must either legalize both or neither. If we are going to change the definition of marriage, there's no reason not to legalize polygamy.
  • I would rather gay marriage was legal, but no polygamy
  • Yes. Let's put a stop to the intolerance and discrimination. Let people love and marry whomever they want to.
  • Well Gay marriage is straighforward... poly marriages would be a lto more complex, more complicated law would have to be written, some number limits to think about, would we allow 2 men getting married to same woman.... the list goes on and on, gosh in case of divorce, should both fathers, both mothers be responsible for child support.... although in this economy it is sounding like a better and better idea everyday... many incomes yippie!
